II.1.4) Short description
The MHRA science labs located at the South Mimms site and the organisation have numerous floor standing Ultracentrifuges and high speed centrifuges from a single manufacturer across the site. The Ultracentrifuges are used flexibly for a range of laboratory techniques including the purification of viruses, or the extraction of viral/bacterial nucleic acid. Around half of the ultracentrifuges are used in high containment areas.
The various rotors used are compatible across the range of centrifuges and it is required that there shall be no loss of service as and when new centrifuges are installed.
The restricted tender shall consist of 3 lots as described below.
i) Supply, install and provide training for floor standing laboratory centrifuges from the same manufacturer, upto ultra performance speeds.
ii) During the transition phase to provide own rotors and Beckman Coulter rotors (or compatible equivalents), that are necessary to allow MHRA to continue to operate efficiently.
iii) Provide ongoing maintenance, calibration and certification services for MHRA鈥檚 entire fleet of centrifuges.

List and brief description of conditions
Expression of Interest is invited from Tenderers who have any of the following capabilities:
Tenderers MUST be able to supply, install and train staff on their floor standing laboratory centrifuge models.
Tenderers MUST be able to provide their own rotors, and replace existing Beckman Coulter rotors (or provide compatible equivalents), until the decision to replace the centrifuge has been taken.
Tenderers MUST be able provide ongoing support (including preventative maintenance and recalibration services) the existing Beckman Coulter centrifuges and during subsequent transition to the new centrifuges.
Tenderers who do not have any of these capabilities above are advised not send in their EOI as they shall be disqualified during the pre-qualification stage.
