II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The works are required to improve the fire-resistant properties of the existing façade cladding system and to secure localised inadequacies within the supporting steel frame system (SFS) installation. The works follow a successful trial exercise intended to assess the buildability of the works proposed and the likely impact on ongoing hospital operations, the details of which are included in the tender pack.
The works include removal of the existing lightweight render system and combustible polystyrene insulation, remediation where required to faulty/inadequate sheathing board/cement particle board (CPB), fire stops, vapour control layer (VCL) and exposed SFS, overlaying of faceted CPB (to curved blue painted walls forming ensuite ‘pods’) with new non-combustible sheathing boards installed to a curve, reinstatement of fire barriers as necessary and provision of a new non-combustible mineral fibre insulated render system with silicon resin render finish, all to be of no lesser standard than the trial provisions detailed in the tender pack.
