II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The University of Birmingham has a requirement for a Small Works Framework to cover small works (including refurbishment works) as defined in the following Lots:
Lot 4 - Electrical Works
The implementation of a Small Works Framework Agreement will cover various specialist repairs and refurbishment projects, typically in a value range with an upper limit of 拢50k per project. This framework will provide the Estates office with the ability to improve procurement processes and enhance project deliverables, whilst increasing opportunities for local, small and medium enterprises in support of the local economy, also allowing the University of Birmingham to secure best value. The Framework agreement will be for a duration of three years with an option for two further two-year extensions.
It is anticipated no more than five suppliers will be awarded to each Lot.
Mini competitions from the Framework, once awarded, will be based, in general, on cost only.
Indicative project types associated with this Framework are listed in 'Appendix A - Example Projects'. Please note the projects listed under each Lot are examples and are not an exhaustive list.
The University intends to use a Full Terms Services contract for this Framework for projects up to a value of 拢25k. Please see 'Appendix C - Full Terms Services'
The University intends to use an unamended JCT Minor Works contract by reference, or JCT Minor Works Contract with Contractor Design by reference, for projects in the range of 拢25k to 拢50k. Please see 'Appendix D - Minor Works Building Contract' and 'Appendix E - Minor Works Building Contract with contractors design'
