Invitation to Tender: Mill Lane allotments - Preparatory site clearance and landscaping
Brockworth Parish Council (BPC) is seeking tenders in relation to the above project to enable it to bring forward the allotment site for public use in the autumn of 2024.
The site has an area of 0.74 hectares. The site was previously in agricultural use prior to the development of the nearby residential areas at Perrybrook. The site is bordered by residential development to the east and south, playing fields and educational use to the west, and by the A417 to the north.
BPC has divided the site into two distinct areas:
1. Public allotments on the northern section of the site.
2. Community Food Garden and Orchard on a southern section of the site.
Specification
• Removal of existing scrub vegetation.
• Creation of a 3 metre wide access route (shale surfaced) through the centre of the site (with vehicle turning area(s)).
• Creation of a perimeter grass margin of 3 metres in width around the boundary of the site.
• Rotovation and grading of surface within the defined allotment areas (a 1 metre margin is required between individual allotment plots).
• Provision of 5 additional water points as marked.
• Creation of manure and compost storage areas for communal use.
• Construction of a hard (porous) surface for the siting of a large timber shed for the use of the Community Food Garden project. Erection of the shed may be required.
• Construction of two raised beds, with hard surfaced, porous pathway between to allow wheelchair access.
• Construction/supply of communal storage shed.
• Relocation of fruit tree saplings to the Community Orchard in the southern section.
• Erection of secure rabbit proof fencing around the site boundary.
• Removal of all cleared vegetation from the site.
