Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has an ageing population where the demand for disabled adaptations continues to grow. The Council has a number of strategic aims in its Local Housing Strategy document 鈥淗ousing Matters鈥, which aims to encourage housing led regeneration and provide a good quality living environment which promotes health, wellbeing and independence for residents.
Significant investment in mandatory DFG鈥檚 (Disabled Facilities Grant) and other discretionary housing grants supports this strategy.
Currently the Private Sector Housing Unit provide assistance to over 2200 properties a year, either via grant aid or the installation of minor works of adaptation.
Individual schemes can range in value from GBP50 for minor adaptations to in excess of GBP 25k for large renovation or adaption projects.
