Thanet District Council wishes to select and appoint a suitable supplier for the provision of coastal zone maintenance and emergency works to local authority structures and invites prospective suppliers to submit a Tender to meet the Employer鈥檚 requirements.

This contract is for civil engineering works primarily associated with the maintenance of coastal defence structures along the Authority鈥檚 19 mile coastline. The works may take the form of responsive repairs, general maintenance or emergency works for which a 24 hour call out service will be required with a 2 hour response time.

Typical works orders may involve formed concrete works and concrete repairs, handrail repairs, fencing, bituminous surfacing, steel works or drainage works; however, this is not an exhaustive list. The majority of the works will be undertaken in the vicinity of the lower and upper promenade areas on the Isle of Thanet coastline. Some of the works will also be undertaken within the tidal zone and some works may be ordered in locations away from the coastline.

The primary objective of the contract is to provide the council with a contractor to carry out coastal zone maintenance and emergency works and to maintain coastal assets to a satisfactory and safe standard. High standards of the delivery of this contract are important to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our residents and visitors which is one of our District Council鈥檚 corporate priorities, as well as delivering value for money.

The Contract is anticipated to commence upon September 2024 for a duration of 3 years with one option to extend (at the Council鈥檚 discretion) of 24 months unless terminated sooner in accordance with the Conditions of the Contract.

The procurement process will be undertaken on the basis of formal tenders. Evaluation will be on the basis of criteria and methodology as set out in the Invitation to Tender document.
