The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a Rotating Spindle Drilling System on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre CYMRU, Chester Road, Chester, CH4 0DH

AMRC Cymru located in Broughton, Flintshire are creating a new centre to carrying out projects and development activities centred around aerospace drilling and fastening. As part of this creation, the AMRC Cymru are looking to purchase a Spindle Drilling system with rotating capabilities. The piece of equipment will sit within an established 7mx7m safety cell and must be able to work alongside our current sensorised coupon holder. The new system must be able to drill holes ranging from 4mm up to 25mm diameters within a range of materials, including:

• Carbon Fiber- Reinforced plastic (CFRP)

• Aluminium

• Titanium

• Glass Reinforced Fibre Metal Laminate (GLARE)

• Polyetheretherketone PEEK

• Resin transfer moulding (RTM)

Other thermoplastic materials may be required.
