Paul Hamer follows Tony Aikenhead as only the second outsider to run Sir Robert McAlpine. He starts on 31st July 2017.

Paul Hamer joined WYG in July 2008 and was appointed chief executive in March 2009. He is credited with leading the business through two major financial restructurings, in 2009/10 and 2011, and returning the company to profitability.
At WYG, Douglas McCormick has been appointed to succeed Paul Hamer as chief executive with effect from 12th June 2017. Mr McCormick was until recently chief executive of Sweett Group, managing 拢90m of revenue and more than 1,500 staff across 18 countries. Previously, he was group managing director for rail at WS Atkins.
WYG has also reported its financial results for the year ended 31st March 2017. They show revenue up 14% to 拢151.8m (2016: 拢133.5m) but pre-tax profit down 27% at 拢1.6m (2016: 拢2.2m).
