WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff will provide feasibility studies, conceptual design and front-end engineering, among other services, to support the plant鈥檚 expansion.

The LNG terminal on the Isle of Grain in Kent is the largest in Europe, with storage capacity for a million cubic metres, and the eighth largest in the world. However, with the UK鈥檚 dependency on imported gas forecasted to exceed 76% by 2030, National Grid plans to increase its capacity further.

Glenn Halton, oil and gas sector lead at WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, said: 鈥淭his is a crucial project for increasing the security and diversity of the UK鈥檚 energy supply whilst we progressively switch from coal to cleaner gas fired power plants. This latest win demonstrates confidence in our expertise in natural gas, liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas and allows us to expand our resources in the southeast to better serve National Grid Grain LNG.鈥

Grain LNG senior commercial manager Nicola Duffin said:聽 鈥楪rain recently celebrated ten exceptional years聽 of progress and now we are looking to the future, increasing the services we offer to our customers and working to ensure that Grain remains the European port of choice for LNG shippers. WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff is crucial to our safety and success.鈥
