Welsh schools add up to £54m for Willmott Dixon

12 Jul 12 Willmott Dixon has won three education projects in Wales worth a total of £54m.

The first is part of The Works regeneration scheme to transform the former steelworks site in Ebbw Vale. Willmott Dixon has won the 拢27m contract to construct Ebbw Fawr 11- 16 Learning Community School. The three-storey secondary school is due for completion in autumn 2013, catering for 1,200 pupils.

Willmott Dixon has also been appointed by Cardiff County Council to construct the new St Teilo鈥檚 Church in Wales High School in a 拢20m contract. The 1,440-pupil high school should also complete in autumn 2013.

Meanwhile, under the southeast Wales schools capital working group (SEWSCAP) framework, Willmott Dixon has won a 拢7.1m contract to build the new Abercynon Primary School in the Cynon Valley for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council. SEWSCAP is a partnership between 10 local authorities to create a framework of contractors to procure education projects over four years.

Neal Stephens, managing director of Willmott Dixon in Wales, said that the contractor was committed to using local labour and suppliers.
