Vestas wins supply contract for Europe's largest onshore wind project

24 Feb 16 Vestas has won its largest-ever order for wind turbines.

The order for 278 wind turbines totalling 1001MW came from Fosen Vind DA in Norway.聽 The 1 GW order comprises turbines for six different wind parks in Norway, which combined will be Europe鈥檚 largest onshore wind project to date.

Fosen Vind is a joint venture company owned by Statkraft, Tr酶nderEnergi and Nordic Wind Power, which consistes of of Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners and Swiss utility BKW.

The record order includes 248 units of Vestas鈥 V117-3.45 MW turbines and 30 of the V112-3.45 MW,

鈥淲e are extremely proud to work with Statkraft and the partner organisations on this 1 GW project, which is Vestas鈥 largest order to date,鈥 said Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen. 鈥淭he order affirms the competitiveness of Vestas鈥 wind power solutions and that wind power provides an attractive long-term energy investment that goes well beyond its climate and sustainability benefits.聽 Investing in wind power simply makes economic sense.鈥

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a two-year full-scope service agreement, followed by a 20-year service and support agreement. Delivery of the first turbines is planned to take place in second quarter of 2018, with commissioning of the last wind power plant expected in fourth quarter of 2020.
