USAID awards $650m contract to boost urban infrastructure

3 Nov 14 Tetra Tech has won a US$650m (£406m) contract with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the improvement of urban infrastructure in developing countries.

The multiple-award indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract will be used to help in areas that face increased risks from climate change, as well as health and economic impacts from the lack of adequate water and infrastructure.

鈥淭etra Tech is pleased to support USAID in working with local governments to provide the basic infrastructure services necessary to meet many of the challenges facing urban centres in developing countries,鈥 said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech鈥檚 chairman and CEO.

Under the 鈥楳aking Cities Work鈥 IDIQ, Tetra Tech will support USAID in providing technical solutions to improve the delivery of water, transportation, and sanitation services in urban areas. Tetra Tech will also work with local governments to strengthen their ability to prepare for and respond to natural disasters, improve environmental management practices, and increase their resiliency to the impacts of climate change.
