The design and build projects will involve construction and renovation of airfield facilities to enable the operation of the MV-22 (medium lift) aircraft as well as the CH-53 (heavy-lift) helicopter. The contracts cover parking apron and taxiway renovation and hangar construction.
In particular, the project is designed to accommodate and maintain the MV-22 squadrons and allow for readiness and training operations as well as special exercises.
There are also planned modifications for the associated furniture, fixtures and equipment necessary to complete the facility. If the modifications are issued, the total contract amount will be US$103.6m.
