The two L220G鈥檚 were selected by D Wardle (Plant) after a full evaluation and competitive trials - including the machines they replace. 鈥淔or us and our client, the fuel initiatives on these latest Stage IIIB models were the major selling point,鈥� said managing director Scott Wardle. 鈥淚n particular Volvo鈥檚 optishift transmission with its reverse by braking feature, the simple but effective eco pedal and engine auto shut off are definite energy saving devices and we are already seeing tangible and significant savings in fuel consumption 鈥� even better than expected.聽 These attributes fit in very well with our own core values and in reducing our carbon footprint. They鈥檝e also met and exceeded the operating criteria demanded by our client,鈥� he continued.
The L220Gs feature new engines and driveline systems designed for improved productivity, lower emissions, greater smoothness, serviceability and operator comfort.
The latest machines are part of thirteen additional loading shovels purchased for Wardle鈥檚 fleet this year.
