The Tesla-supplied battery will store electricity generated by Neoen鈥檚 Western Downs solar farm for transmission into the electricity network. The facility is expected to become operational from the Australian summer of 2024/2025. UGL will also install the battery itself.
UGL is a specialist in the design, construction and operation of renewable energy infrastructure. To date it has built 11 solar farms and installed three large-scale batteries.
The company is owned by Cimic Group 鈥� formerly Leighton Holdings 鈥� which is itself a subsidiary of German contractor Hochtief.
