Turner & Townsend picked for Dutch ministry refurb

18 Jun 14 Turner & Townsend has been appointed as lenders' technical advisor for the €267m (£212m) refurbishment of the Rijnstraat 8 ministry building in The Hague, Netherlands.

.

The refurbishment of the 99,000m2 ministry building will result in new public function and congress areas, various working areas, spaces allocated to departments and a crisis centre in the heart of the city. There will be five vertical cores spanning 16 floors, connected by open corridors.

Turner & Townsend will work on behalf of the lenders and provide full technical due diligence services. It had already advised on the project鈥檚 technical risks prior to the preferred bidder appointment, and is now working on the project in the phase up to financial close.

With a design, build, finance, maintain and operate (DBFMO) contract in place, Turner & Townsend will also continue to monitor the project as it continues through the build and maintenance phases.

Turner & Townsend associate director Roland Verniers said: 鈥淩ijnstraat 8 will be a challenging project, as it is located in the heart of The Hague and operating tramways are passing through the building, demanding exceptional focus. Our risk assessments will enable the lenders to make informed decisions throughout the construction and operational phases of the project.鈥
