23 Nov 16 Inverness-based Campbell Plant Hire has taken delivery of the first two Volvo EW60E compact wheeled excavators to be sold in Great Britain.

The six-tonne EW60E was launched at this year鈥檚 Bauma exhibition and marks Volvo鈥檚 re-entry to the compact wheeled excavator following a 12-year gap after production of the EW50 and EW70 ceased in 2004.

Managing director Alan Campbell said that the gap in the Volvo product line had been missed. 鈥淲e are very pleased that Volvo has introduced this wheeled machine into their line-up as it plugs a specific gap in the hire market which has been missing here in the north of Scotland.鈥

He added: 鈥淭he EW60E is well specified and as with all Volvo compact excavators it鈥檚 a robust and well-built machine. We believe it will become a very popular machine with the local utility and building companies.鈥澛犅犅

Cambell bought the machines from Volvo Construction Equipment鈥檚 utility dealer for the region, CS Machinery Sales.

The EW60E has a 2.9-metre boom and 1.6-metre dipper arm, with a maximum forward reach of 5.81 metres, maximum dig depth of 3.29 metres and practical load over height of 4.44 metres. Coupled to a minimum front swing radius of 2.35 metres, it can work in confined spaces.

Permanent four wheel drive is provided by one large variable axial piston motor and a two-step power shift gear box giving a maximum speed of 30km/h and a maximum tractive effort of 29kN. 聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽
