York-based William Anelay on 8th September 2016 with the loss of 126 jobs.
Lowery Roofing, Hare & Ransome Joinery, Anelay Building & Conservation North East and Anelay Building & Conservation North West were all associated with William Anelay but did not go into administration.
They have now been bought by London-based Szerelmy, which also specialises in stonework and heritage restoration projects. The deal has saved 50 jobs.
Charles Anelay, chairman, special projects director and eighth generation of the Anelay family to work at William Anelay Limited, said: 鈥淭his acquisition removes all the uncertainty and brings fresh stability to these businesses by securing jobs with traditional craft skills and providing continuity for our clients.
鈥淎s such, it is very good news for our staff, good news for York and our region, and the northwest, and good news for the heritage restoration sector.鈥
