With double track included, the contract covers 310 railway kilometres of lines.
The contract comes into effect on 1 October 2014 and will be valid for an initial five years with possible one-year extensions. The first five years have a contract value of SEK367m (拢32.9m).
Strukton will maintain the Nyn盲sbanan (Nyn盲s Line) and the V盲stra stambanan (Western Main Line) between 脛lvsj枚 and Gnesta. The V盲stra stambanan is the main railway line between Stockholm and Gothenburg. The line is electrified and consists mostly of double track, except some four-track sections. The Nyn盲s Line is a 55km-long line between 脛lvsj枚 and Nyn盲shamn. The line is electrified and double-track on the 22km section from 脛lvsj枚 to V盲sterhaninge.
The company will be reponsible for the railway engineering, power supply, catenary and signalling. Repairs and corrective maintenance are included. 鈥淲e have been looking forward to assuming responsibility for these track sections,鈥� said Strukton Rail鈥檚 regional director Ann-Sofie Lindstr枚m. 鈥淭hey will become a natural geographical continuation of the railway maintenance we are doing in central Stockholm, where we already have an established and effective group of technicians who know both the area and track system very well. The preparation of the contract start is in full swing.鈥�
