Stewart Milne Construction Secures £4m Inverness Contract

31 May 11 Stewart Milne Construction has secured a £4 million contract with Servite Housing Association and Highland Council to build 50 new low carbon homes in Inverness.

The contractor, one of Scotland鈥檚 leading construction companies, will deliver a mix of one and two bed flats on behalf of the housing association, plus an additional range of one, two and three bed properties for Highland Council.聽 Using closed panel timber frame construction, all properties in the development will incorporate the highest standards of insulation and air tightness, providing tenants with an energy efficient living solution.聽

Using Stewart Milne Timber Systems鈥 Sigma II build system, the Servite Housing Association properties will meet the Ecohomes 鈥楨xcellent鈥 standard.聽 Throughout the design and build process, Stewart Milne Construction will be responsible for meeting the stringent Ecohomes ratings which are based on environmental performance, health and safety and quality of living.聽 The properties, designed by Inverness-based architect practice, Colin Armstrong Associates, will also feature a central biomass boiler plant and green 鈥榞rowing鈥 roofs to meet the necessary energy requirements.

The project, which recently commenced, is due for completion in April 2012.
