As the first phase of the overall new stadium project, McLaren will build a new Sainsbury鈥檚 supermarket to the north of the proposed new ground, together with 110,000 sq ft of commercial/educational space above it.
The new Sainsbury鈥檚 will be one of the largest in London at 130, 000 sq ft, with a sales floor area of 72,000 sq ft.
Work will start on this development later this month with completion expected by the end of 2013 or early 2014.
McLaren and Spurs have history together. The contractor built the club鈥檚 training centre in Enfield.
Project director Paul Phillips said: 鈥淲e look forward to working with McLaren Construction, who have been a good partner during the construction of our new training centre.
鈥淏y appointing McLaren, we shall again be able to ensure that the new supermarket development is delivered in line with a strict contractor code of conduct similar to that which was employed in Enfield, and that our construction partners will take a responsible and sensitive approach to building within our community.鈥�
