Spiral Cellars allow for original design

18 Nov 11 An Original Spiral Cellar has been specified as part of a residential project in Buckinghamshire to demolish an existing barn and construct a new gymnasium, TV room and guest accommodation.

The Original Spiral Cellar was installed inside the TV room as a luxurious yet unobtrusive addition to the building as the cellar's recessed trapdoor was designed with the same wooden flooring as the rest of the room to ensure a discrete finish.

The Spiral Cellar is a watertight, pre-cast cylindrical system that provides the quickest, cheapest and easiest way of incorporating a wine cellar into an architect鈥檚 design plans. The modular system can be installed under almost any home in just under a week - as part of a new build or refurbishment project.

As part of the project to construct a new gymnasium, TV room and guest accommodation, property owner Paul O'Leary specified a wine cellar to be included in the plans. The simplest way of meeting this brief for the team at Jane Duncan Architects was to incorporate a Spiral Cellar into the designs. The Original Spiral Cellar installed at the property offers a rustic, concrete appearance and can store a maximum of 1600 bottles of wine.

"The Spiral Cellar was very easy to incorporate into the plans," commented Aida Danon-Bavici, Architectural Assistant at Jane Duncan Architects. "This is the first time we had used a Spiral Cellar and we were very happy with the results."

Spiral Cellars then worked alongside the contractor for the construction of the new building, Tony Power Building Services who completed the initial excavation to the specification provided by the team at Spiral Cellars. The Original Cellar was then installed in just three days allowing further work to commence on site without delay.

Paul O'Leary, owner of the property concluded: "The installation team from Spiral Cellars were very professional and the job was completed in just three days helping to reduce the time spent on site. The end result is fantastic - we have a wine cellar that we can enjoy for years to come."聽
