While the equipment hire and support services company has always taken on apprentices across its network of 325 depots for technically based roles, this is the first time they have taken on apprentices in the marketing department.
The apprentices are Luke Hunter and Chris Rand 18, both聽 former students at Runshaw College in Leyland and Simon Fillingham, 18, a former Deyes High School pupil from Maghull.聽
Speedy found the apprentices through Manchester-based Skills Solutions, who currently have 200 vacancies with employers for young people in the North West.
Steve McIntyre, head of group marketing at Speedy said: 鈥淎pprenticeships are a great way to grow your own talent and we鈥檝e been recruiting apprentices across the business for years.
鈥淯p until now most apprenticeships have been in more traditional technically-related occupations, but this is the first time that we have taken on apprentices in a discipline like marketing.
