Skanska wins £210m highways deal

6 Mar 17 Hampshire County Council has awarded Skanska a seven-year highway maintenance contract worth £30m a year.

Skanska takes over 贬补尘辫蝉丑颈谤别鈥檚 9,000km of highways on 1st August 2017, until August 2024. There is an option to extend for a further five years, based on performance.

Skanska operations director Simon White, for Skanska, said: 鈥淲e will bring innovative and cost-effective solutions to help maintain and improve roads across the county.鈥

Hampshire county councillor Rob Humby, executive member for environment and transport, said: 鈥淭his new contract has been years in the planning.聽 We鈥檝e worked with councillors across all political parties, talked to other authorities, researched the market, and engaged with all potential suppliers to fully understand what they can offer Hampshire. I鈥檓 confident that our new contract is competitive, offers good value for money for 贬补尘辫蝉丑颈谤别鈥檚 council taxpayers and can deliver the quality of work 贬补尘辫蝉丑颈谤别鈥檚 residents expect and deserve. We are all very much looking forward to working with Skanska.鈥

贬补尘辫蝉丑颈谤别鈥檚 highways were previously maintained by Amey, under a 拢325m a year contract.
