The five-storey timber-framed building will provide 119 bedrooms and shared cluster-style kitchens for Manchester鈥檚 students when it opens this autumn; together with car parking including disabled parking spaces; and cycle storage area.聽
Construction included using pre-fabricated cassettes as part of the 15-week timber framework programme and installation of bathroom pods. The high specification 3,200m虏 accommodation, designed by Manchester architect Halliday Meecham, has also incorporated a number of features such as air source heat pump and a low light loss external light scheme that have contributed to the building鈥檚 BREEAM 鈥榁ery Good鈥 rating.聽
Peter Millett, managing director for the West Division of Shepherd Construction commented: 鈥淲e are delighted to hand over Arch Bar as it is set to provide a real difference for the student community by providing the right type of accommodation close to the city centre and the universities, particularly the nearby Metropolitan University.鈥澛
Robin Goodlet, UNITE Project Manager said: 鈥淲e look forward to seeing Arch Bar open this September particularly as the development answers the demand within Manchester鈥檚 university community for high quality student accommodation at affordable rent levels and in convenient locations.鈥
Shepherd Construction is also currently on-site with a 拢45 million student accommodation project on Great Marlborough Street in Manchester, on behalf of Student Castle.聽聽
