Shaylor to turn Cadbury HQ into flats

1 Apr 15 Shaylor Group has been selected as principal contractor for the £16m refurbishment of former Cadbury headquarters Franklin House in Bournville.

Working with developer Court Collaboration and local architect BPN, Shaylor will convert the 1960s commercial office space into apartments, worth 拢6.4m of the overall budget.

Franklin House, reportedly the birthplace of the Curly Wurly, will have 79 one and two-bedroom apartments, including four penthouse suites featuring internal courtyards. The property will be re-branded as The Franklin. Completion is scheduled for March 2016.

Shaylor chief executive Stephen Shaylor said: 鈥淲e have significant experience in the housing sector and look forward to bringing The Franklin to life.鈥

The contract is the latest in a string of commercial to residential projects Shaylor Group has been awarded nationally. Shaylor has recently completed two similar projects in Croydon with a combined value of approximately 拢6.5m. Work has recently started on a third residential conversion project in London to convert a former office block into more than 140 studios with a contract value of just under 拢5m.
