SES records accident free year

22 Mar 12 SES continues to lead the way in tackling health and safety issues by recording an enviable twelve month period and more than 1.3million man-hours RIDDOR free (Reporting of Injuries, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).

Described as an innovative thinking business, with eight offices across the UK, for the past ten years SES鈥檚 accident frequency rate has been below the construction industry average which is a reflection of its proactive and positive approach to health and safety.

Speaking about this latest achievement, Tony Sidwell, head of safety, health, environment and quality at SES, said:

鈥淎t SES we are continually evolving our health and safety initiatives and have recently launched our internal, Think Safety campaign.聽 With robust policies and procedures and good communication as well as a positive and professional attitude, accidents are avoidable as can be evidenced by our RIDDOR free year in 2011.鈥

SES鈥檚 RIDDOR free period was measured between January and December 2011.聽 In addition to its twice yearly audits, carried out by the British Standards Institute as part of SES鈥檚 accreditation to OHSAS 18001, the contractor also implements several internal audits and inspections which are carried out by the company鈥檚 SHE Department, board directors, members of the Directors鈥 Safety Leadership Team and project management teams.

聽Mr. Sidwell continued:

鈥淪tarting at board level through to our youngest apprentice, health, safety and the environment has to be the responsibility of all and the first thing on everyone鈥檚 mind when working on site.聽 Extending our 鈥榯hink safety first鈥 attitude to our supply chain and all visitors to live sites, will ensure that we continue to operate below the average construction industry accident frequency and I am confident will result in more RIDDOR free years.鈥

SES is currently operating on a diverse range of projects spanning the education, leisure and commercial development sectors.聽
