SES employee’s success in Skill Pipe Competition

29 Jul 11 An employee of leading building services contractor SES has recently been successful in the Skill Pipe Competition semi finals and will now go forward to the finals which will be held in September.

Stuart Eden, 24, from Leeds, will represent the SES York office in the competition, which is designed to promote standards and skills across the commercial heating pipe-fitting industry. Competitors will undertake a series of practical tests based on real-life work to find the industry鈥檚 best apprentices in the UK. Stuart is currently in his 4th year as an apprentice as a HVCA craftsman.

SES continues to make significant investment in apprentices, demonstrating the value placed upon those training within the business. Due to the wide variety of projects, trainees have the opportunity to experience working on live sites which supports their classroom learning and is reflected in the high calibre of the trainees who go on to become fully qualified.

Stephen Bradshaw, labour manager at SES, said;

鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled that Stuart has been successful in the semi finals. We feel that his success is a testimony to the quality of training at SES and even to get to the semi finals is an outstanding achievement.聽 We wish him the best of luck in the finals and we are extremely proud of his accomplishment to date.鈥

The finals will be held at Leeds College of Building from 14- 16 September this year. Success for Stuart in the finals would result in him competing in the World Skills Competition next year.
