Construction work has just started on the development, which will create a dementia-focused housing with care complex made up of 28 one-bed apartments and 16 two bed-apartments.
The 4,913m2 extra care apartment development is designed around a central courtyard and garden. The scheme also includes a Wellbeing Centre that will be open to the public and a caf茅, meeting rooms, activity spaces and a hub facility for outreach services.聽 In addition, five two-bed accessible chalet-style bungalows will be built at the site, which is on an old car park in the town.
Gloucester-based Quattro is the architect for the scheme, which is scheduled to be completed in February 2015.
All homes will be for affordable rent and will meet the Lifetime Homes standard that means they can be readily adapted as residents鈥 needs change.
