The appointment will see Seddon deliver a 拢5m school extension for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council in Heaton Chapel after winning a mini-competition run through the framework.

Seddon will build a new junior block at St Thomas鈥 CE Primary and establish a seeded sports pitch and running track as part of the contract.聽

The contract was released through the medium value framework for work worth between 拢2m and 拢9m for public bodies and councils in Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. 聽NWCH expects to award anywhere between 拢250m and 拢1bn through the framework over the next three years with an option to extend for a further year.

Seddon construction manager Andre Witter said: 鈥淲e hope that this is the first of many contracts we secure through the framework.鈥

Meanwhile Seddon has also been appointed by Staffordshire County Council to convert a disused adult education centre into a new 拢2.5m primary school in Lichfield. The former Cherry Orchard adult training centre, which has been empty for three years, will become the Five Spires Academy, with a single-storey extension to the 1970s building.

This is Seddon鈥檚 sixth project under Staffordshire County Council鈥檚 construction framework.
