Figures from the National Commercial Bank鈥檚 construction contracts index for the fourth quarter of 2013 show that work worth SR293.4bn (拢46.7bn) was awarded.
Significant expenditure is planned for the education and manpower sectors (SR210bn), health and social affairs (SR108bn), municipal services (SR39bn), transportation and infrastructure (SR66bn) and water, agriculture and manufacturing (SR61bn).
鈥淲hile we project the government鈥檚 capital expenditures to decrease from SR278bn in 2013 to SR238bn in 2014, the value of awarded contracts will continue in line with the activity that has been witnessed over the last few years,鈥 said the The High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh.
The SR293.4bn in awarded contracts during 2013 was largely down to the government鈥檚 continued expansion of capital expenditures and was 25% up on 2012.
