The new site - which also contains a gypsum quarry - is located close to the village of Gomzovo, in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It represents an investment of about 鈧70m (拢60m) and has a workforce of 87 employees.
The plant was officially opened last week by Saint-Gobain chairman and CEO Pierre-Andr茅 de Chalendar at a ceremony attended by representatives from the local and regional authorities.
鈥淭he start-up of this new plant is an important step in the group鈥檚 development within the Russian habitat and construction markets,鈥 said de Chalendar. 鈥淩ussia鈥檚 climate, its rising purchasing power and pressing need for housing means that it鈥檚 a country with great potential for the group.鈥
