Royal HaskoningDHV chosen for Indian smart city project

19 Jun 17 Royal HaskoningDHV is to provide project management consultancy services for one of the first of 100 ‘smart cities’ to be developed in India.

Kota has been chosen as one of four smart cities in the state of Rajasthan. The aim of the programme is to introduce systems that will ultimately improve the quality of life for local citizens.

The Indian government is committed to the creation of 100 smart cities across the nation. The smart city concept encompasses a wide range of approaches and solutions aimed at meeting the needs of India鈥檚 rapidly growing urban population. Fundamental to smart city proposals is the need to ensure that the water supply and sanitation requirements of the city are met. To achieve this, Kota City, with its current population of 1.1 million, has major plans for the improvement of existing infrastructure and introduction of smart technologies. Potential solutions include lake development, 24/7 water supply, rainwater harvesting, sanitation improvements, integrated urban road development, lighting, energy security and the improvement of gardens, parks and open spaces.

Kota Smart City - the company responsible for the work - has commissioned Royal HaskoningDHV in joint venture with STUP Consultants to provide project management consultancy services including design, construction supervision and project management for infrastructure solutions.
