Pasquill鈥檚 Uddingston branch, near Glasgow, will supply and fit roof trusses at 12 McCarthy & Stone sites across Scotland over the next 18 months.

Pasquill, part of the French building materials group Saint-Gobain, reports that it is increasingly being called upon to act as a specialist roofing subcontractor in this way 鈥 providing a supply and fit service, rather than just supply.

McCarthy & Stone regional commercial manager Gary Fitzpatrick said: 鈥淲ith Pasquill handling not just roof truss design, manufacture and supply, but facilitating the installation also by liaising with local roofing contractors on our behalf, we know we are in safe hands. In essence, it means a more co-ordinated approach to completing the roofs on our developments. It鈥檚 one less thing for us to have to worry about.鈥

Pasquill construction manager Steven Tracy added: 鈥淨uite a number of the roofs supplied for McCarthy & Stone feature complicated low pitch roof truss configurations which have to accommodate a variety of building materials such as zinc and bitumen. We provide considerable technical design input for these projects. This value engineering is often needed by the developer鈥檚 architects as early as the planning stage, and it鈥檚 gratifying to know that our experience and technical input at this key juncture can help the build process run more smoothly.

鈥淭his entire approach is good news for developer clients and Pasquill alike because the more we are entrusted to work with project architects and installers on schemes, the better understanding this gives us of clients鈥 needs, and the better position this puts us in to meet these needs.鈥
