The plan for the 21ha 'FredericiaC' brownfield site at the city鈥檚 seafront will expand the existing inner city by 25%. The design proposal includes a new canal structure and a new park.
The FredericiaC urban development initiative is a partnership between the local authority of Fredericia and Realdania Urban Development. The jury highlighted the winner proposal as "a very strong unifying physical concept with a regional appeal which is intended to increase the area's attractiveness, attention and value." In particular, the jury valued that the proposed canal structure that will strengthen the city's relation to the water.
The multidisciplinary design proposal includes traffic, parking, sustainability, soil contamination and environmental risks related to the neighbouring harbour activities and oil terminal. With suggested investments in sustainable energy supply from wind turbines, district heating and sea water cooling, the whole development is planned to become CO2 neutral.
Ramboll, KCAP and Fakton will now work on the development plan, which is to be presented in the first half of 2012.

We are very happy to become part of the future development of Fredericia.鈥
