Between 31st March 2013 and 31st March 2015, the number of people working in the UK construction industry increased by 86,000 from 2,038,000 to 2,124,000, according to official figures. That is an increase of 4.2%.
But 60,000 of those extra jobs came in the first year and just 26,000 in the most recent year.
Average weekly earnings in construction reached 拢573 in May 2015, including bonuses. This compares to 拢542 a year before and 拢551 in May 2013 鈥� a 5.7% increase.

Overall, the ONS labour market data for the three months to May 2015 show that unemployment across the UK rose by 15,000 and employment fell by 67,000 to 30,980,000, which was the first fall in two years.
