Paul Sheffield leaves Laing O’Rourke

13 Feb 17 Laing O’Rourke has announced the departure of its managing director Paul Sheffield after little more than two years in post.

Laing O鈥橰ourke said when he joined in October 2014 it was only ever intended to be a short-term position and now has been an appropriate time by both sides for him to move on.

Paul Sheffield had previously spent 31 years with Kier, including four as chief executive.

While at Laing O鈥橰ourke, Mr Sheffield concentrated on strategy as well as legacy projects in the UK that have now been completed.

鈥淭he business plans to 2020 are now complete and our vision to 2025 is well advanced and will be ratified in April/May this year,鈥 the company said in a statement.

Chairman Ray O鈥橰ourke said: 鈥淧aul and I feel that now is an appropriate time for him to step off and make way for others currently in the business with longer horizons.

鈥淚 would like to personally thank Paul for his tireless efforts and dedication over the past three years.聽 His leadership has been instrumental in ensuring the business is now on track to grow safely and profitably in the coming years.鈥
