The contract for the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County is for the tunnel and connection facilities on the joint water pollution control plant (JWPCP) effluent outfall tunnel project. The final design will include tunnelling, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering services. Additional services will include cost estimating and construction scheduling.
The project will convey treated wastewater from the JWPCP in Carson, California, to an existing outfall. The new tunnel will allow for inspection and repairs of the two existing effluent tunnels, which flow full every day and haven鈥檛 been inspected in more than 50 years.
