Afghanistan鈥檚 president Hamid Karzai and Pakistan鈥檚 president Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting at the sideline of the fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA).
Afghan finance minister Hazrat Omar Zakhailwal, who also attended the conference, called on Pakistan to resume the construction projects that remain halted in Afghanistan. These include the second part of the Jalalabad-Torkham Highway, Jinnah Hospital in Kabul, Balkh University, Logar Hospital and a kidney treatment centre in Jalalabad.
President Zardari promised that Pakistan government would take necessary actions for completing its unfinished projects in Afghanistan.
The Afghan delegation also asked the Pakistani side to extend its railway up to the border at Torkham so that Afghanistan will be able to link it to its own new railway, presently being built. The Pakistani delegation said that Japanese government would start the construction work for the railway.
