Oxford college picks BAM for £50m project

4 Mar 16 Oxford University’s Keble College has appointed BAM for a £50m new-build programme.

The work for the new HB Allen Centre involves complex fa莽ade retention and basement works. The retained fa莽ade will be 鈥渓ifted鈥 on pile stilts whilst the redevelopment of the basement is completed.聽

Anthony Nagle, who has led BAM鈥檚 work in Oxford since 2008, said: 鈥淭his scheme re-unites us with Rick Mather architects, the designers behind our work at the Ashmolean Museum here when I first came to Oxford.鈥

The bursar of Keble College, Roger Boden, said: 鈥淚t matters to us that we are dealing with a firm that, although multinational, has deep roots in the region and a team that guards its reputation jealously.聽 We chose BAM primarily because of its strong focus on collaborative teamwork.聽 The basis of any construction project is of course contractual, but for us a successful project is all about trust and a shared vision of what we want to achieve.鈥

Work begins this spring for completion in summer 2018.
