The plant in the city of Sonson will be built under a €224.6m (£198m) contract for Ecocementos, whose ownership is evenly shared by the Colombian group Corona and by the Spanish company Cementos Molins.
Production capacity of the plant will be 3,150t per day of clinker and approximately 1.35 million tons of cement per year. It is expected to generate approximately 220 direct and 250 indirect jobs when it becomes fully operational.
The project covers the scope from the primary crushing stage through to the dispatch of cement, either in sacks or in tanks.
The technology come from FLSmidth, with which OHL Industrial has been working for several years.
