The scheme has a budget of US$970m (拢585m) and involves building and operating 9.3km of urban highway. Key aspects include a tunnel under the San Crist贸bal hill and Mapocho River, improvements to existing stretches of road and an underwater tunnel running from the south side of the Centenario Bridge.
This highway will help shorten travel time for commuters in the eastern part of Chile's capital while improving traffic on an existing, heavily congested road.
OHL began working in Chile in the 1980s and other recent wins include the concession for the Puente Industrial road bridge in B铆ob铆o. Sacyr has been working in the country since 1996 and its concessions arm currently has five Chilean highways that together total a length of 676km.
