Offsite Management School goes live

24 Mar 15 An online education resource has been set up by specialists in offsite construction.

The new Offsite Management School is the latest branch of the construction industry's Supply Chain School.

The Supply Chain Sustainability School was launched in 2012. Similar schools for infrastructure and facilities management have been set up in the past couple of months.

In each case, the schools offer online resources as well as actual training workshops.

Partners in the Offsite Management School are:

  • Action Sustainability
  • Building Research Establishment (BRE)
  • Build Offsite
  • Carillion
  • Construction industry Training Board CITB)
  • Costain
  • Exelin
  • Laing O'Rourke
  • Siemens
  • Skanska
  • Total Flow
  • United Utilities.

The partners say: 鈥淭hrough the school we have come together as a group of partners to give a common and consistent message to our supply chain that we all need to transform the way we think about construction.聽 Through our co-investment in the school we hope that we are backing our desire to see change by providing our suppliers with help to start the process of thinking differently and transforming the way they work.

鈥淲e believe the industry must go through a process we have called construction industrialisation. Digital design and the use of digital data throughout the value chain will lead to increasing use of offsite manufacturing, just in time logistics and multi-skilled onsite assembly will produce assets that are learner, greener and more efficient. Best in class performance during an asset's life will reduce maintenance costs and produce building and infrastructure that go beyond client expectations.鈥
