Actavo is targeting a variety of sectors to generate business for the new factory, including education, healthcare, construction, commercial, rail and defence.
Roger Hastie, chief executive of Actavo鈥檚 structural division, said prefrabrication was on the rise: 鈥淭oday鈥檚 opening takes place against the backdrop of a revolution in the building industry, where modern methods of construction are increasingly being embraced. Faster, cost-effective and more flexible, there is now a groundswell of support for modular construction鈥檚 ability to address many of the challenges we face in terms of supply and demand for accommodation in both the public and private sectors.鈥
Actavo was formerly Siteserv, an Irish scaffolding and utilities services company, until it was bought by telecoms billionaire Denis O鈥橞rien for 鈧45m in 2012.
