Nine win places on Cambridge Uni framework

1 Sep 16 The University of Cambridge has selected nine contractors for its estate management framework, which has a potential total value of £500m.

The framework is broken down into three bands for differing project values: up to 拢5m, 拢5m to 拢30m, and 拢30m+. Construction work to be delivered through the framework is expected to include new laboratories, academic spaces, catering, accommodation, sports facilities and work on listed buildings. The framework runs for an initial two years, with the potential for an extension of three years.

- Balfour Beatty, BAM, Bouygues, Kier and Laing O鈥橰ourke are selected for projects worth more than 拢30m.

- Kier, RG Carter and SDC have been chosen for mid-sized projects.

- Conamar, Kier, Quinn, RG Carter and SDC share the sub-拢5m projects

Kier is therefore the only contractor selected for all three bands, having delivered more than 拢200m of projects for the university, including a new 拢79m research facility in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Laing O鈥橰ourke director Paul Sheffield was also excited. Laing O鈥橰ourke has previously worked with the University of Cambridge on the Judge Business School, the Department of Mathematics phases one and two, and the Cancer Research UK headquarters.
