With one year to go until the start of the 2012 Olympics, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has picked ISG to manage 'overlay' at the venues. This includes temporary spectator seating, tents, cabins and platforms as well as utilities, fire safety, specialist sports lighting and drainage.聽聽聽
The overlay works are critical to the smooth running of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The management contract incorporates the preparation, delivery and removal of all temporary facilities and services at venues, including the Olympic Stadium, Velodrome, Aquatics Centre and Water Polo Arena, Media Centre, Olympic and Paralympic Villages, Basketball Arena, Hockey Centre, Handball Arena and at Eton Manor for the wheelchair tennis.
ISG will also manage the infrastructure requirements for the opening and closing ceremonies in the Olympic Stadium, as well as the installation of the largest temporary dining hall structure in the world, capable of serving 50,000 covers in one sitting.
CEO David Lawther said: "This latest award builds upon ISG's relationship with the London 2012 Games, following the successful completion of the award-winning Velodrome and the delivery of the 2012 BMX facility.
"The continuation of our close relationship with the London 2012 Games is an outstanding success for our project teams and a major acknowledgement of our capabilities."聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽
