The company, which is building the Chesham Healthzone in Berkhamsted Road for NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster, invited Dr Peter Boast, a GP at Gladstone Road Surgery; Monica Lawrenson and Sarah Toft from The New Surgery, and Richard Mills, director of strategy and planning for NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster, down to the site to view progress on the scheme. Both practices are set to move into the new facility when it is completed this autumn.
Working alongside specialist primary care centre developer Brackley Investments, Stepnell is creating the new two-storey Chesham Healthzone on a former brownfield site. The company has demolished existing industrial units to make way for the centre, which will house a variety of medical facilities, including a pharmacy. The value of the project to Stepnell is 拢3.9 million.
When completed, the new centre will incorporate cutting-edge sustainable technology including high-performance windows with specially-designed louvred shutters to provide 鈥榥ight purging鈥, a technique which sees low temperature night air being used to naturally cool and ventilate buildings.
鈥淲e鈥檙e very much enjoying working closely with NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster and Brackley Investments to deliver this top-class new healthcare facility which will make a real difference to the lives of people living locally,鈥 says Mark Wakeford, Stepnell managing director. 鈥淲ork on the project is progressing well and we look forward to handing over the completed centre to NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster later this year.鈥
Richard Mills, director of Strategy and planning for NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster, adds: 鈥淐hesham Healthzone, a state-of-the-art health facility for the people of Chesham, will be a positive development for the town and will enable residents to access a wider range of services, such as those supporting the management of long-term conditions, closer to home.鈥
