Lord Moynihan takes over as Amey chairman from former Balfour Beatty boss Ian Tyler, who had the role since 2018.
The announcement follows the recent acquisition of Amey by One Equity Partners and Buckthorn Partners. Moynihan is also chair, and a partner, of Buckthorn Partners.
Since his time as Margaret Thatcher鈥檚 sports minister 鈥� on the basis of being a double Oxford blue, in boxing (bantamweight) and rowing (cox) 鈥� and then an energy minister in John Major鈥檚 government, he has developed business interests in the energy sector. He served as chairman of the UK Renewable Energy Advisory Group and was the first president of the British Wind Energy Association.
