Nationwide said the new depot was 鈥渙ne of Europe鈥檚 largest depots鈥� for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
The four acre site houses around 900 machines and employs 45 personnel, as well as the company鈥檚 central region customer service centre, which supports a further six depots across the Midlands and East Anglia regions.
Nationwide鈥檚 former main depot in Birmingham was damaged by fire, and the company had been operating out of a temporary location.
The depot is lining up to achieve International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Rental Plus status, a kitemark for rental facilities that meet industry leading standards.
Operations director Peter Douglas said: 鈥淲ith around 900 machines, our new depot in Birmingham is by far one of the largest MEWP depots in Europe. As such, with a leading new permanent home we鈥檒l now be in an even greater position to support safe and productive work at height right across the area, regardless of the challenges or tasks that our customers face.鈥�
