The work for the Hindustan Construction Company鈥揝amsung joint venture involves the provision of geotechnical, civil and structural engineering services for contract CC34, which is part of the Janakpuri West to Kalindi Kunj corridor on the Delhi Metro Phase III.
Contract CC34 involves the design and construction of a 4.5km tunnel from Janakpuri West to Palam by shield tunnel boring machine. It also includes construction of underground metro stations at Janakpuri West, Dabri Mor and Dashrath Puri as well as interchanges with existing elevated metro stations.
The Delhi mass rapid transit system is being expanded to meet increasing transport needs. New circular lines will interchange with existing radial lines, improving connectivity and access to the city鈥檚 metropolitan areas.
Mohan Gupta, Mott MacDonald鈥檚 divisional director, said: 鈥淥ur association with Delhi Metro goes back over 10 years and we have played an important part in the system鈥檚 success. We鈥檙e looking forward to continuing our involvement and will use our knowledge from previous phases to provide solutions in what are often challenging soft ground conditions in Delhi.鈥
The project is due for completion in 2016.
